I really enjoyed carving this 21st key for Margaret Masters birthday. The detailing around the floating text was a fun challenge that gives the 21st key a really unique look. Here is a good example of the way traditional family heraldry can be brought into the design without taking over. The family crest is incorporated with other traditional pacific styling and to me it looks less key and more sculpture, which I am really happy with.
When we sent through an update on the piece to Maggie Masters she said:
“It already looks amazing . I’m soo excited to see the finished product”
We hope Margaret was as happy with the finished 21st key.
As you can see I also build stands for the 21st keys. Having a stand makes it easier to display the key when it is given and can be useful if the person receiving it lives in a flat that doesn’t allow things to be hung on the walls. We carve a variety of stands and always try to blend the stand into the design.
